Peter and Paul Fortress

It is one of the oldest structures of Saint-Petersburg from where everything started.

The fort stands on the smallest island in the estuary of the Neva River. Every day at 12 noon, the cannon fires from one of the bastions.

During this private walk we will visit the oldest church – Peter and Paul Cathedral – in Saint-Petersburg located in the cradle of the city – the very first construction of the future capital of Russia. Nowadays, it’s a burial place for the Romanov dynasty (as the Kremlin was for the Rurik dynasty) and you will learn their exciting history while walking past the tombs of the monarchs.

Besides you will have an overview of the fortress territory.

The State Hermitage Museum

The State Hermitage is a world-famous museum with a collection which numbers about 3 million exhibits.

There are works by Leonardo da Vinci, Rafael, Michelangelo, Rubens and Rembrandt. As well, it possesses one of the best collections of impressionists and post-impressionists, including paintings by Monet, Renoir, Matisse, and Picasso, etc.).

Collection was started by Russian Empress Catherine the Great in the middle of the 18th century. Nowadays it occupies 5 beautiful buildings along the Neva River: the Winter Palace, the Small Hermitage, the Old Hermitage, the New Hermitage and the Hermitage Theatre.
